With a $10 bill they got a buck. Now the bill is $100 so $10 tip is not good enough. With prices going up, tips go up. Why does the percentage go up too? Some say if you can't afford to tip, don't go out. So they would rather have nothing.? Restaurant goes out of business they lose their job. Don't get me wrong, I tip plenty, but we do not go out near as often.

I tip more than 8% since tips are taxed at that rate. Or were.
What it is now, dunno...

My minimum for food service at a restaurant is $3 per person sitting at the table.
It can get pricey if they're good at their job. I'm not stingy; they get more usually.
Even a **** server needs a few bucks. The workplace may be getting them down that day.
But don't treat me bad. You get nothing.

But a take out restaurant? My local Thai restaurant started putting out a tip jar.
What am I tipping them for? Standing there taking money? Seems like a guilt-trip jar.

I had a plumbing problem a few years ago and the well diggers had to excavate, replace a fitting, etc.
They stopped at my place first thing the next morning after I called them. Plugged me in as first for the day.
I tipped them a C-note. So it cost $1200 instead of $1100. I appreciated that I didn't have to wait 3 days or so.
Please seat yourself.
